21 km - RouteThe route

The race starts at Lithotopos Harbor. Within the first few meters, the runners turn left and pass through the Kerkini Dam facilities. From there, they head straight onto the lush green embankment below, a section of the route known for its rich natural beauty and opened especially for the participants.

At the 3-kilometer mark (where the 6-kilometer race turns around), runners climb the upper embankment and continue on to the small church of Agios Stefanos. There, looking down the slope, they will have the opportunity to admire the herds of the lake’s majestic water buffalo in their natural habitat.

Following the volunteers’ instructions, they circle around Canal K3 and return to the lower embankment, continuing on until they reach the next aid station in Limnochori (approximately at the 11-kilometer mark).

There, the athletes turn around and climb back up the upper embankment. On the return leg, the view changes dramatically: they now have a clear view of the lake’s waters at several points. They follow the embankment, enjoying the changing scenery and the open view, until they finish, filled with memories, back at Limanaki Lithotopou!

Five stations staffed by volunteers and first responders along the route:

  • 4th km — 6K Turnaround: Zagori Water, savory & sweet snacks, lifeguards
  • 7th km — Church of Saint Stephen: Zagori water, savory and sweet snacks, lifeguards
  • 11th km — Turnaround — Limnochori Bridge: Zagori water, snacks, fruit, ice, salt, energy gels, first aid personnel

The time limit has been set so that the vast majority of athletes can complete the course comfortably and safely, taking its characteristics into account.

After the deadline has passed:

  • Participants who have not finished the race are considered to be out of the official race,
  • are not included in the final standings and do not receive an official time,
  • have the option to continue the journey on their own, if they so choose.

Volunteers have the right to ask athletes who have not passed the chapel of Saint Stephen (7th km) within the first 75 minutes after the start to return to the finish line, having covered a total distance of approximately 13 km.

The entry fee is set in stages leading up to the race date, giving an advantage to those who secure their spot early.
